March Disneybound Challenge - 2021
Usually I post this post on April 1, and usually I’ve posted other things by this time in the year, too, but life has been so different this year!
As always, The holidays were busy and even though I had projects I finished, I didn’t find time to share them.
Then, in January, our little one came about 3 weeks early, which totally threw us for a loop and derailed a lot of my immediate sewing plans. We scrambled to get everything ready for her while my husband was in the middle of remodeling our main bathroom, so even our house was a bit of a mess!
Needless to say, adapting to being a mom and trying to keep on top of things like laundry and dishes, then returning to work after 12 weeks of maternity leave have all kept me extremely busy. I have found time to sew here and there and I have a lot of pictures and ideas stored away to share with you, but who knows if/when those posts will see the light of day!
Anyway, I DID participate in the DIsneybound Challenge this year, and I included my little girl, Rowan, each day! I took my pictures in the same spot in my home everyday and I was working with a limited wardrobe for both myself (due to my changing postpartum body and my usual clothes not fitting me) and for my daughter (because I wasn’t about to buy/make onesies she was only going to wear once just for an outfit!). I’m honestly really proud of this year. Yes, I’ve had flashier outfits, matching makeup, more #memade pieces, better locations and more inventive props in past years, but I’m still really happy with how this year turned out. There were plenty of days where I felt too tired to do anything, but it was really great having this motivator to keep me going. Being a new mom is hard, and the last thing I want is to lose myself because I let things slide too much. I’m still my Disney-loving self, I’ve just got a little one to share it with now 🥰
So here’s my quick recap - by far and away, my most liked post (ever?) was day 1. I don’t think any other days even got half the number of likes it got. And who knows why? Social media is weird. I also filmed my first Tiki’s Tok style video (day 3). I think that if I didn’t have a full time job I could totally get into making fun videos like this! And yet again I’m always amazed at what people like versus what I think people will like. I was not cut out to be an influencer 😂
